WearableArtOmaha (WAO) is a clothing company collaboration between owner and fashion designer Michael Brewer, and his father, former Air Force Captain, mathematician, and computer programmer turned painter, Ken Brewer. The goal of this fashion startup is to create beautiful, exciting, and fun clothing out of Ken Brewer’s paintings.
WAO, based in Omaha, Nebraska, focuses on ready-to-wear fashion, athleisure, and activewear. At this time, the original paintings used for this apparel are eclectic, abstract acrylics that boast wild, natural scenes, and bright colors. When transferred to the clothing, the outcome is bold, feminine, and eye-catching. Next up for WAO is a line that highlights Ken Brewer’s geometric paintings.
Having launched in late 2017, WAO is diligently working on creating and launching wearableartomaha.com with the goal of reaching a worldwide audience. Even though the brand is just beginning, WAO was discovered on Instagram in November by the Raw Artists organization, and will be a featured fashion designer at Raw Envision event in Omaha on January 25, 2018. Further, WAO is in talks with several fashion week events around the country, with the goal of showing at other top fashion weeks throughout 2018.
Michael Brewer started WAO as a tribute to his father’s paintings, with the simple goal of getting them in front of more people. While working on designing the WAO apparel, Michael can’t help but be reminded of his mother, who recently passed away, and the fact that she made all of his clothes until he was about six years old. With these things fueling his drive, Michael has grown WAO from the initial simple idea mentioned above into a rapidly expanding apparel company, in less than three months’ time, and has absolutely no plans of slowing down anytime soon.
